United Nations Praises Uganda’s Parish Development Model for Poverty Alleviation

The United Nations agencies in Uganda have commended the Ugandan government, led by President Yoweri Museveni, for launching the Parish Development Model (PDM). During the 78th United Nations Day celebrations in Gulu City, UN Resident Coordinator Susan Ngongi Namondo highlighted the PDM as a program that has the potential to lift Ugandans out of poverty and support the nation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.

Government to Announce Winning Bid for Reviving Kilembe Mines At 12th Annual Mineral Wealth Conference

Vincent Kedi, the Commissioner for Licensing in the Ministry of Energy, announced during a press briefing about the upcoming 12th annual Mineral Wealth conference that the government is close to revealing the winning bid for the revival of Kilembe Mines. This follows interest from 14 companies, with seven shortlisted to submit proposals for the mine’s revitalization.

President Museveni Pledges Funding for Youth-Led Innovations in Uganda

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, while officiating at the 4th Youth Business Forum and Expo in Kampala, announced his commitment to provide funding for youth-led innovations. He emphasized that the government would support innovative projects with a clear business perspective and expressed gratitude for the youth’s efforts in finding solutions to Uganda’s challenges.

Uganda and DRC Scrap Visa Requirements

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda have agreed to do away with the need for visas for their respective nationals, an announcement made by Hon the deputy minister for foreign affairs in Uganda Hon. Okello Oryem and credited the decision to the tenacious efforts of Presidents Yoweri Museveni and Felix Tshisekedi.
