UPDF Pursues National Park Tourists Attackers

Uganda People’s Defence Forces are actively pursuing the perpetrators of a tragic incident at Queen Elizabeth National Park, where 3 people were killed in an attack suspected to have links with a rebel group. The UPDF vows to increase pressure on the attackers while urging vigilance from the public. Despite the tragedy, the rest of the country remains peaceful and open for tourism.

UPDF Deploys On the Uganda-Kenya Border Due To Turkana Attacks

The Ugandan army is taking action to stop Turkana warriors from infiltrating the Karamoja region due to ongoing attacks. President Museveni issued an order banning Turkana pastoralists from grazing until those responsible for the deaths of Ugandan geologists are produced.

DRC Sets To Join Standard Gauge Railway Project

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has committed to participating in the ambitious Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project in East Africa, aiming to link the Indian and Atlantic Oceans for enhanced regional connectivity and trade. Uganda invited the DRC to a meeting on this during the recent joint commission meetings. DRC will nominate engineers and coordinate with Uganda for SGR standards, with joint site visits planned by March 2024.
