Kingdoms to Get Shs60m Monthly Says President Museveni

President Yoweri Museveni instructed the Ugandan Parliament to provide a monthly payment of Shs60m to all officially recognized cultural institutions to support their operational needs. The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Thomas Tayebwa, revealed this information during his address at the wedding reception of His Majesty Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV and Her Royal Highness Jovia Mutesi at Igenge Palace in the Northern Division of Jinja City on Saturday.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, accompanied by key officials, assessed the progress of various infrastructure projects in Uganda ahead of the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Group of 77 (G-77) +China Third South summits scheduled for January 2024. The inspection covered transportation systems, including road and interchange projects, Speke Resort Munyonyo, and Entebbe International Airport.

Karuma Dam Power Project Set for September 2024 Commissioning

The Karuma Hydroelectric Station is initially expected to be completed by 2018, is set for commissioning by September 2024. Currently, four out of six units are operational, with full functionality expected after the sixth unit is completed by the end of 2024. The project aims to meet increasing electricity demand. Once finished, Uganda’s installed electricity capacity is projected to reach 2000 MW.
