The Traffic Police have announced major road diversions and closures in Kampala from January 9–11, 2025, to ensure the smooth movement of delegates and security during the African Union Summit at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces, paid tribute to journalist Risdel Kasasira following his tragic death, calling him “a brilliant and balanced journalist” and praising his patriotism and truthfulness. Kasasira passed away in a car accident on January 3, 2025, along the Kashagama-Lyantonde Road in Lyantonde District, when the vehicle he was traveling in veered off the road and overturned into a swamp.
