Diana Museveni has been appointed as the new patron of Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, succeeding Janet Kataha Museveni. The announcement was made during World Chimpanzee Day, emphasizing Diana’s commitment to conservation and efforts to reverse chimpanzee population decline through public participation in habitat protection and anti-poaching measures.

Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Conservation Trust has unveiled Diana Museveni as the new patron of Ngamba Chimpanzee Sanctuary, replacing First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni, who has led the sanctuary since its initiation.

This announcement was made during the commemoration of World Chimpanzee Day, where Diana Museveni expressed her total commitment to working with the leadership of Ngamba Island to conserve chimpanzees and ensure the reversal of their declining numbers in Uganda and globally.

She called for collective efforts among the public to conserve wildlife, protect their habitats from encroachers, and combat illegal poaching of wildlife.
