CNOOC Launches Free SME Training to Boost Uganda’s Oil & Gas Sector

CNOOC Uganda Limited, in partnership with Vectra Energies, has introduced a free online Enterprise Development Program from October 28 to November 7, 2024, aimed at empowering Ugandan SMEs. This program is designed to enhance local SMEs’ competitiveness in the oil and gas sector by providing essential training in business management, regulatory compliance, procurement, financial management, health and safety, and strategic planning.

As part of its commitment to bolstering Uganda’s oil and gas sector, CNOOC Uganda Limited has introduced a free online Enterprise Development Program aimed at empowering Ugandan Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Running from 28th October to 7th November 2024, the initiative will equip SMEs with essential business skills to thrive in the oil and gas supply chain and beyond.

In partnership with Vectra Energies, the training program will provide practical insights into business management, regulatory compliance, and procurement processes specific to Uganda’s oil industry. According to Liu Xiangdong, President of CNOOC Uganda, “Our goal is to build the capacity of local SMEs, preparing them to leverage emerging opportunities in the sector. This initiative is a step towards fostering local content and economic growth.”

The curriculum includes training in financial management, health and safety standards, and strategic business planning, addressing the needs of SMEs across various sectors. By the program’s conclusion, participants will gain skills aligned with industry standards, enhancing their capacity to secure contracts and deliver quality services.

“This program aims to empower SMEs with actionable strategies that promote sustainable growth and competitiveness,” remarked Eric Jumba, National Content Manager.
