Kyambogo University to hold first East Africa Conference on Disability
Kyambogo is set to hold the first ever East Africa Conference on Disability inclusive higher education at the University in Kampala scheduled for 13th -14th, November 2024.
The first-ever East Africa Conference on Disability Inclusive Higher Education will be held by Kyambogo at the University in Kampala on November 13–14, 2024.
The first Lady who is also the minister for Education Janet Museveni is expected to be the chief guest.
Addressing journalists at the media centre in Kampala, the vice Chancellor for Kyambogo University Prof Elly Katunguka said that the two-day conference is an initiative of the special needs and Rehabilitation that seeks to address a significant gap inclusive education advocacy and disability research by refocusing attention towards a relatively neglected area of disability inclusion in higher education.
Katunguka adds that, the conference will also bring together different groups of people including people with disabilities and associations that support them among other.
He also highlighted that the University is the leader of inclusive education with the university now having the population of about 241 students with different disabilities, across its 12 schools and faculties.
