The Uganda Embassy in Bujumbura, in partnership with key stakeholders in the education sector from both Uganda and Burundi, will host an Education Exhibition at Donatus Conference Centre on February 15.
Education has played a crucial role in fostering development and regional integration within the East African Community (EAC), with numerous distinguished individuals from EAC member states having graduated from Ugandan institutions.
The exhibition will provide a platform for Burundian education stakeholders to network and engage with their Ugandan counterparts, strengthening educational ties between the two nations.
With over 25 universities and secondary schools from Uganda confirmed for participation, the event will feature presentations from Uganda’s Ministry of Education officials on the country’s revised and enhanced education curriculum. The system now focuses on critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills, promoting an integrated learning approach.
As the region advances towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including quality education, poverty eradication, and economic growth, Uganda has remained at the forefront in human capital development, successfully reducing illiteracy and fostering sector-wide collaborations with fellow African nations.
The Uganda Embassy has invited all stakeholders to the expo, which it says it a vital step in strengthening bilateral relations between Uganda and Burundi through enhanced cooperation in the education sector, in line with the African Union Charter on Education.
