Ugandan Hip-Hop Artists Navio and GNL Zamba Elected as Voting Members of the Grammy Recording Academy

Ugandan hip-hop artists Navio and GNL Zamba have been elected as voting members of the prestigious Recording Academy. This allows them to actively participate in the Grammy Awards process and have a say in nominations and winners. The Recording Academy recognized their contributions to the music industry and welcomed them as voting members. Additionally, new Grammy award categories were established prior to the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, including Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album, and Best Pop Dance Recording.

Ugandan hip-hop artists Navio and GNL Zamba were elected as voting members of the prestigious Recording Academy.

“GRAMMYs… Exciting news, family!!!” GNL Zamba announced the induction on Instagram. “I’ve joined the innumerable artists, professionals, and organizations that #IAmTheAcademy and support, celebrate, and promote music all year long. Being a new @recordingacademy member this year is an honor.

The Recording Academy is a group of artists, producers, engineers, and other recording industry professionals who are committed to enhancing the social and cultural environment for music and its creators.

GNL Zamba and Navio can actively take part in the prestigious Grammy Awards process thanks to their recruitment into the Recording Academy as voting members.

Rappers who are Voting Members are also eligible to examine entries, vote, and have a say in who gets nominated for and who wins in numerous award categories. Their participation is evidence of their knowledge and creative contributions to the world music scene. The Recording Academy salutes Navio and GNL Zamba as voting members and recognizes their enormous contributions to the world of music.

Prior to the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy established three new categories: Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album, and Best Pop Dance Recording.
