UPDF Engineering Brigade Leads Development Projects at Entebbe International Airport, Kajjansi National Medical Stores Oxygen Plant, and Namboole Stadium
The UPDF engineering brigade has completed 66 out of 163 projects, including an 85% complete new arrivals terminal at Entebbe Airport and similar progress at the Oxygen Plant. The Namboole Stadium is undergoing commendable renovations, including the construction of a 3-Star hotel with 66 rooms and a new seating plan for around 39,981 football spectators. The UPDF Engineering brigade is reportedly handling infrastructure developments under the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health as directed by the President.

Leading a group of senior officers to assess the readiness of construction works at Entebbe International Airport, Kajjansi National Medical Stores Oxygen Plant base, and finally Mandela National Stadium, alias Namboole, where UPDF Chief Political Commissar Maj Gen Henry Masiko and the chairperson of the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, a body tasked with anticipating all projects undertaken by the UPDF Engineers brigade.

Maj. Gen. Masiko on 2nd August 2023 thanked the UPDF leadership and military engineers for accepting to take on the role that will eventually result in the social-economic development of villages while speaking on the sidelines during the Wednesday visit. According to him, the UPDF is a pro-people force that is always willing to make sacrifices in order to sustain peace, stability, and transformation.
He stated that out of the approximately 163 projects the UPDF engineering brigade performed overall, 66 were successfully finished. The new arrivals terminal at Entebbe International Airport is around 85% complete, according to the team, and is scheduled to be finished by September 2023. Work has already been completed to around 85% of capacity at the Kajjansi National Medical Stores Oxygen Plant base. A cylinder shop and office building, tarmac interior roads, and the paving and fencing of property are among the new initiatives at this location. The renovation and improvement of Namboole Stadium was another example of commendable effort.

A 3-Star hotel with 66 rooms is being built as part of the renovations, which started on August 1, 2021, and will allow for a new seating plan for around 39.981 football spectators. Around November 2023, construction on this Sh64 billion sports complex is expected to be finished. In order to carry out a previous Presidential Directive that envisioned benefits like timely construction, high-quality, and affordable structures delivered by the troops compared to private dealers, the UPDF Engineers brigade is reportedly taking on all infrastructure developments under the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health.
Col David Muhanguzi, Col Patrick Semakula, Col Fulgence Mayiga, and Lt Col Godfrey K Tukamwakira, among others, were with Maj Gen Masiko during the inspection.
