Uganda Secures Historic Victory: East Africa Pamoja Bid Wins Right to Host 2027 AFCON

Uganda, as part of the East Africa Pamoja Bid, has secured the privilege to host the prestigious 2027 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Uganda has been awarded the honour of hosting the coveted 2027 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) as part of the East Africa Pamoja Bid.

The East Africa joint bid commonly known as the “Pamoja Bid”, on 27th September 2023 won the hosting rights for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations as Morocco took the rights for 2025.

The news was announced on Wednesday morning by the CAF president Patrice Motsepe shortly after the body’s executive committee meeting held in Cairo, Egypt.

Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania set out to contest for the rights together with Algeria, Egypt and Botswana.

Initially, Namibia had joined forces to partner with Botswana but later withdrew leaving the small Southern Africa nation to go solo.

Zambia and Burkina Faso had expressed their interest but did not submit their bid books formally.
