Parliamentary Committee Vets Presidential Nominees for National Citizenship and Immigration Board
The Parliamentary Committee on Appointments conducted a vetting of Presidential nominees for the National Citizenship and Immigration Board.
The Parliamentary Committee on Appointments on 12th October 2023 vetted the Presidential nominees for the National Citizenship and Immigration Board.
The Committee which was chaired by Deputy Speaker, Thomas Tayebwa vetted 4 members of Board who include; Ms. Beatrice Amongi Lagada as Deputy Chairperson of the Board and other members; Dr. Eria Hisali, Hon. Justice Lamech N. Mukasa, Col. (Rtd) Donald Mugimba, and Mr. Nassur Gaddafi.
Lagada, who was initially Board member will now replace Maria Amoit as Deputy Chairperson. Nassur, who in 2021 contested for Katikamu North Parliamentary seat is the only new face of the Board.
Deputy Speaker, Tayebwa said “the Committee will communicate its decision to the appointing authority.”
The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control is a Public Service Institution under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and is responsible for managing migration to and from Uganda.
The Directorate is also the Secretariat of the National Citizenship and Immigration Board established under Article 16 of the Constitution and a member of Justice Law and Order Sector.
