NAM Summit in Kampala: Morocco, Algeria confirm attendance
Algeria and Morocco will send high-level delegates, possibly their presidents, to the 19th Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Kampala from January 15-20. The summit, themed ‘Deepening cooperation for shared global affluence’ highlights collaboration among 120 member states. The G77 summit will follow, continuing discussions on global cooperation and development.
North African nations Algeria and Morocco have confirmed that they will send high-level delegates — who may include their respective presidents — to attend this month’s 19th Non Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Uganda’s capital Kampala.
The summit will get underway this coming Monday (January 15) and run until January 20 at the Speke Resort Convention Centre Munyonyo.
It will be held under the theme: ‘Deepening co-operation for shared global affluence’.
An official from Morocco’s Embassy based in Tanzania that oversees Uganda said on Thursday (January 11) that they expect officials from their foreign affairs ministry.
Ambassador Omar Hilale, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United Nations and Zakaria El Goumiri, Morocco’s Ambassador-designate to Uganda, will attend the Kampala summit.
An official from Algeria’s Embassy in Kampala said that Algeria plays a very important role in NAM.
He said Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune will attend the conference along with the country’s foreign affairs minister, Armed Attaf. The two leaders will be accompanied by delegations.
NAM is composed of 120 member states, 18 observer countries and 10 observer organizations.
The NAM summit will be immediately followed by the G77 summit.
