Centenary Bank has made a daring move into the digital sphere by launching banking services on WhatsApp, giving customers a handy method to manage their finances from the comfort of their own homes. The new tool enables Centenary Bank’s retail customers to execute a number of banking chores directly on their cellphones using the popular texting platform.

During the official launch, Centenary Bank’s Managing Director, Fabian Kasi, stressed that the switch to WhatsApp banking is a strategic endeavor to improve client convenience. He remarked, “This is part of the bank’s digital journey, which has been underway for some time. We expect that new service will change the way clients interact with us by providing more alternate channels for accessing financial services.”

Kasi highlighted the bank’s financial inclusion strategy, with accessibility as a fundamental pillar. “Using channels like this one as an alternative fulfills the promise of us being accessible any time anywhere, wherever you may be, to access our services,” he went on to say.

Recognizing the rapid transformation of banking, particularly mobile banking, Kasi underscored the institution’s commitment to being ahead of the curve and embracing innovation to surpass client expectations.

Charles Kabanda, Centenary Bank’s General Manager Retail and Microfinance, emphasized the importance of WhatsApp as one of the world’s most popular messaging systems. He goes on to say, “It empowers our customers to seamlessly manage their finances at their fingertips with instant messaging response and the ability to chat with the call center agent for the resolution of any issue that may arise.”

Centenary Bank users can use the WhatsApp banking service to access a variety of functions such as balance inquiries, mini statements, PIN changes, card blocking and unblocking, mobile money transfers, interbank transactions, airtime purchases, utility payments to URA, and Cente loans.

This move reflects Centenary Bank’s commitment to using technology and innovation to meet and exceed client expectations in an ever-changing financial sector.

Centenary Bank’s WhatsApp Banking enables users to conduct a variety of banking activities directly from the WhatsApp application.

From monitoring accounts and receiving statements to moving funds, paying bills, and even applying for loans, the service promises a comprehensive suite of financial tools at the user’s disposal. This includes enabling payments for utilities like water and electricity, as well as TV subscriptions.
