Prime Minister Nabbanja Champions Uganda’s Economic Potential in Italy

The Right Honourable Nabbanja Robinah, Prime Minister of Uganda, addressed Italian investors at the 5th annual summit for the European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East (ECAM) held at Westin Hotel in Rome, Italy.

During her keynote speech on the theme “Creating a Better Present and Building a Better Future Together for Africa,” Prime Minister Nabbanja highlighted Uganda’s investment opportunities, emphasizing the conducive environment and policies conducive to profitable business transactions.

In her discussions with investors, Prime Minister Nabbanja underscored Uganda’s status as the premier investment hub for East and Central Africa, presenting numerous advantages available to potential partners. She specifically encouraged the establishment of coffee value-addition factories in Uganda to generate employment opportunities, shifting away from the historical export of raw coffee.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Nabbanja echoed the President’s call for trade and partnerships over traditional aid, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts for Africa’s development. During bilateral talks, she engaged with various investors, including Filipo Prosperi, the Business Development Director and Board Member of De Lorenzo company, a leading Italian entity specializing in technical and vocational training equipment. The discussions resulted in an agreement for technological transfer to Uganda.

In addition to these engagements, Prime Minister Nabbanja met with the Director of the Italian Confindustria at their Rome headquarters, among other fruitful meetings, reinforcing the case for investment in Uganda, particularly in the industrial sector to enhance the value of Ugandan products.
