Airtel Uganda’s Generous Contribution to Bridging Uganda’s Digital Divide
This contribution highlights Airtel’s role as a leader in Uganda’s telecommunications sector and emphasizes the importance of ensuring access to communication services for the underprivileged. The funds will be utilized by the UCC to enhance rural communications infrastructure, particularly in underserved areas, aiming to bridge the digital divide and promote inclusive growth throughout Uganda. Manoj Murali, Managing Director of Airtel Uganda, reiterated the company’s commitment to Uganda’s development, emphasizing their role in providing reliable communication services across the country through their 100% 4G network.
While accepting Airtel’s gift, UCC Executive Director Hon. George William Nyombi Thembo stated, “We gather here today to acknowledge and uphold Airtel Uganda’s contribution to the telecommunications sector.” Airtel has served as both an example and a driving force in Uganda’s communication development. I express my heartfelt gratitude to Airtel for its contribution of Ugx.34.8 billion shillings, or 2% of its yearly gross income, to the Uganda Communications Commission.”
“This emphasizes the importance of ensuring that our country’s underprivileged population has access to important communication services. This gift will surely go a long way toward closing the digital divide and encouraging inclusive growth participation throughout Uganda,” he stated.

The Uganda Communications Commission will use the 34.8 billion given by Airtel Uganda to help the construction and improvement of rural communications infrastructure, particularly in underserved areas.
