Andrew Mwenda, a veteran journalist, announced a new podcast with Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, called “Muhoozi-Mwenda Dialogue.” The podcast will cover history and current affairs and will debut on YouTube on January 28.

Veteran journalist and businessman Andrew Mwenda has revealed plans for a new podcast featuring the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, as his guest.

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, 11 January, Mwenda, who is the spokesperson for the Patriotic League of Uganda, where Gen. Kainerugaba is Chairman, shed light on the CDF’s decision to deactivate his X account.

“Breaking: Yesterday in Fort Portal, the equivalent of the Xi’an (or Sian) Incident happened. The CDF, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, for the good of the UPDF, Uganda, and the region, deactivated his X account. For those unfamiliar with history, please read about the Xi’an Incident and call ours, The Fort Portal Incident,” Mwenda wrote.

He further elaborated: “A group of UPDF officers insisted that the CDF step away from X until the reform and transformation of the army are complete. As a professional soldier, a patriot, a Pan-Africanist, and a man who loves the UPDF and Uganda above all else, the CDF agreed to the demand.

“From now on, the CDF will launch a monthly podcast hosted by me to discuss history and current affairs at a strategic level. It will be called the Muhoozi-Mwenda Dialogue. The first podcast will be broadcast on YouTube on 28 January. Television stations can now bid for broadcast rights.”

Gen Kainerugaba deactivated his X account on Friday, 10 January, leaving a heartfelt message to his followers. He expressed gratitude and hinted at a new chapter in his journey.

“To all my Dear followers, it has been a great whirlwind and rousing journey together on these streets for the last 10 years since 2014,” his message began.

He attributed his decision to the instructions and blessings of his Lord Jesus Christ, directing him to leave social media and focus on his duties as the head of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF).

The General’s farewell was filled with affection for his followers. “I know you all love me, and that you will continue to follow me like the wind long after here.” He assured them their paths would cross again in the future, once he completes his mission to restore peace and security in the region.

Before signing off, he urged his followers to support Uganda, Africa, and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, whom he described as “the greatest General of the Resistance.” He concluded warmly: “Kwaheri, and God bless you all!”

The podcast, Muhoozi-Mwenda Dialogue, promises to provide insights into history and current affairs, setting the stage for Gen Kainerugaba’s new focus after stepping away from X.
