Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania now see hope on the horizon as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the new dates for the 2024 Africa Nations Championship.
The tournament was initially scheduled for February 1-28 but was postponed after the three East African nations failed to deliver the infrastructure in time.
During an executive meeting chaired by CAF president Patrice Motsepe, the confederation approved the match calendar for three tournaments including Chan which will now kick off on August 2 and climax on August 30.
“The exco also received an update on the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (“CHAN”), Kenya Tanzania Uganda 2024. The Competition will now kick-off on Saturday, August 2 and the final will be played on August 30, 2025,” CAF confirmed.
The 2025 Afcon whose draw was conducted on the same day, will take place from December 21 to January 18, becoming the first edition to overlap two years. Uganda is pooled in Group C with African giants Nigeria and Tunisia and their Chan and Afcon 2027 co-host Tanzania.
