Deputy IGP Katsigazi Calls on Security Agencies To Continue Working Together
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi has called upon all security forces in Uganda to maintain and ensure the existing friendship and cooperation between the forces and ‘wanainchi’ during the official opening ceremony of the 17th Edition of the Inter-Forces Games at Kabalye Police Training School in Masindi district yesterday 28th November 2023.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi, urged all security forces in Uganda to uphold and foster the current camaraderie and collaboration with the general public. He made this call during the official commencement of the 17th Edition of the Inter-Forces Games at Kabalye Police Training School in Masindi district.Top of FormBottom of Form
He made the remarks at the official opening ceremony of the 17th Edition of the Inter-Forces Games at Kabalye Police Training School in Masindi district, where he represented the Inspector General of Police, IGP JM Okoth Ochola.
“We have been able to work together because our leaders have pursued that spirit of working together. Working together is the way of enhancing our existing discipline and networking,” Maj. Gen. Katsigazi said.
The ceremony started with a parade route match around Masindi Municipality and the planting of more than 200 trees at Masindi Prisons Ground, where people were urged to protect the environment by planting trees.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire, who was the chief guest, encouraged members of the security forces to prioritise mental and physical health by engaging in sports and maintaining the existing friendship among themselves.
He reminded members of the security agencies to remember their obligations to protect civilians who entrusted them with the responsibility for their lives and property.
Different sports and game disciplines that are to be engaged in include football, netball, handball darts, volleyball, athletics, and taekwondo, among others.
The Field Artillery Division (FAD) Commander, Brig Gen. Daniel Kakono, who represented the Chief of Defence Forces, told the participants that games and sports bring physical fitness, discipline, and increased cooperation amongst the forces.
The 17th Edition of Inter-Forces Games is based on “Fostering Wellness and Inter-Agency Cooperation for a Safe and Secure Uganda.”
The ceremony was attended by UPDF Chief of Civil-Military Cooperation Brig Gen Rwashande, UPDF Chief of Education and Sports Col Taremwa, UPDF Senior Officers, Representatives from the Uganda Police Force, Uganda Prisons Service, Uganda Wildlife Authority, and LCV Masindi district, among others.
