Deputy Inspector General of Police Ensures Enhanced Security for Kassanda Miners

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), Tumusiime Katsigazi, assured miners in Kassanda of tight security as they conduct their business. The assurance was given during a meeting held in Kyekampala, Kijuna sub-county on Thursday August 17th 2023.
Katsigazi reiterated the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat criminal activities and ensure the safety of the region. The meeting was aimed to address the pressing security concerns in the mining areas.
The DIGP visited Kassanda district and toured various mining areas to gain insights into the operations and challenges faced by the industry.
During his address, he emphasized the importance of comprehensive worker profiling to prevent crime, particularly highlighting the potential challenges posed by immigrant workers.
He also stressed the need for vigilance against potential terror threats and the importance of effectively mitigating them.
The tour covered several key mining sites, including Kisita Gold Mine in Mbirizzi sub-county, Ngugo in Mbirizzi sub-county, Lubali in Kitumbi sub-county, and Kyekampala in Kijuna sub-county.
The meeting was attended by Police directors, immigration officers, and representatives from the energy ministry, miners, and local leaders.
The collaborative dialogue emphasized the collective responsibility required to enhance security in the mining sector and the surrounding communities.
