Diamond Platnumz Promises an Unforgettable Performance at Comedy Store Fundraising Concert in Kampala

Tanzanian singing sensation Diamond Platnumz is set to headline the Comedy Store Uganda fundraising concert in Kampala on Friday, July 14. The concert aims to support the charitable activities of the Comedy Store Foundation, including youth skilling, mentorship programs, and charitable initiatives.

Tanzanian singing star, Diamond Platnumz, promises his upcoming performance in Kampala this Friday will be “nothing but the best”. Platnumz is in Uganda to headline the Comedy Store Uganda fundraising concert scheduled for Friday July 14 at Kololo Airstrip.

Through the concert, Comedy Store Foundation is looking to expand its programs which are aimed at facilitating youth skilling and mentorship as well as positively impacting the society through charitable activities. Currently, the Foundation runs three key activities; the Home of Hope Charity football match; The Comedy Auditions Program; and the Youth Training & Mentorship Program. This will be Platnumz’s fourth performance in Uganda.

He arrived at Entebbe International Airport Wednesday evening at 6:45pm aboard Uganda Airlines. He was accompanied by his manager, Sallam and a team of 14 including his band. He will address a press conference Thursday morning at Mestil Hotel. “They (Ugandans) should expect nothing but the best. I don’t joke when it comes to stage. Uganda is my home. My kids are from here,” the Yatapita singer told journalists at the airport. Commenting on why he is involved in this charity concert, Platnumz referred to his story, having grown up in a situation of need.

“I must give back to my people. I came from the hood. I came from the slum area, lower life. That’s my duty I must do that. I don’t wanna be selfish. I love empowering people. The more you have people, the more you expect blessings,” the singer added. ‘Simba’ was also asked about something he has always confessed to be passionate about – women. Whether he is open to hooking up with another Ugandan woman.

“You know having a child with someone is a process. It’s not something that you just do. I don’t know, maybe if I happen to love someone here. Not only loving but maybe if I see someone that has chemistry”. Friday’s show will be hosted by Kenyan comedian, Eric Omondi. It will also feature artistes like Nameless, Spice Diana, King Saha, Winnie Nwagi, Ray G, Alien Skin, Karole Kasita, Naava Grey, Zex Bilangilangi, MC Mariachi, Madrat & Chiko, Abeeka Band, Fun Factory, Maulana & Reign, Teacher Mpamire Daddy Andre, Eezzy, Figo West, Titus Vybz, Merry Heart, Sammy & Shawa among others.

The 2015 MTV Africa Music Award (MAMA) winner is open to collaborating with Ugandan musicians. He revealed plans to release a song with Spice Diana.

“Before I leave, we may drop a song with Spice Diana. I think we will shoot as well. Or maybe we’ll perform before the song as well,” he said, adding; “We’ve been planning to do a song for a while. we have a couple of songs me and Diana, but they aren’t out yet. So, you should expect a song coming.” Asked a male artiste he would be interested in collaborating with, he said Jose Chameleone whom he referred to as “my brother”.
