Emyooga, an initiative launched by the Ugandan Government under the Presidential Initiative on Wealth and Job Creation, is revolutionizing the landscape of women entrepreneurship in Uganda. As a groundbreaking effort aimed at uplifting the financial and social status of individuals at the grassroots level, Emyooga is proving to be a genuine game-changer, especially for women who have ventured into entrepreneurial activities.

The primary objective of the Emyooga program is to foster a savings culture among Ugandans and make it easier for them to access funds at significantly low-interest rates. The aim is to alleviate poverty and generate job opportunities, thereby reducing unemployment and boosting the economy.

Many women who have embraced Emyooga describe it as a ‘lifesaver,’ especially because it has brought financial services closer to them, enabling them to expand their businesses, meet personal and family needs, and improve their general living conditions.

Socio-Economic Empowerment

Emyooga has empowered women to start and grow their enterprises, breaking free from the clutches of economic dependence. This financial boost has led to increased economic activities, from the establishment of small-scale industries to the growth of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
