Encouraging African Unity, Ghanaian and Ugandan Speakers’ bilateral meeting sets the tone for CSPOC2024
Speaker Anita Among held a bilateral meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana, Mr. Alban Bagbin, at the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort. They discussed the need for international collaboration based on mutual respect for values, emphasizing unity among African Parliaments to address shared challenges and opportunities.
Speaker of Parliament Anita Among held a bilateral meeting yesterday 2nd January 2024 with the Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana, Mr. Alban S. K Bagbin, who commended her positive influence in supporting African values and traditions.
At the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort, where the 27th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers (CSPOC2024) will be held, Speaker Bagbin stated that international collaboration among Parliaments worldwide should be based on mutual respect for different peoples’ value systems. He emphasized the need to avoid blackmail and intimidation, which he noted was worryingly becoming a global trend.
In her remarks, Speaker Anita Among urged African Parliaments and National Assemblies to unite and work in unison to advance the continent. Recognizing the shared challenges and opportunities that bind African nations, Among highlighted the imperative for Parliaments across the continent to work hand in hand.
