Entebbe International Airport Hits Highest Passenger Traffic Milestone
Entebbe International Airport reached a historic milestone in August 2024, handling a record-breaking 212,701 international passengers, surpassing the previous high set in December 2023. The airport also facilitated over 5,400 metric tonnes of cargo, highlighting its growing role in tourism and trade.

Entebbe International Airport has achieved a significant milestone, registering its highest-ever passenger traffic in August 2024. According to Vianney Luggya, spokesperson for the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), the airport recorded an unprecedented 212,701 international passengers, with an average of 6,861 passengers per day. This figure includes 108,055 departing passengers and 104,646 arrivals. This achievement surpasses the previous record of 198,961 passengers set in December 2023, which had an average daily count of 6,418 passengers.
Passengers at Entebbe International Airport
In July 2024, the airport recorded the third-highest monthly passenger traffic with 195,909 passengers, while August 2023 ranked fourth, with 191,507 passengers and an average of 6,177 passengers per day.
In addition to the growth in passenger numbers, Entebbe International Airport handled 5,410 metric tonnes of cargo in August 2024, comprising 3,525 metric tonnes of exports and 1,885 metric tonnes of imports. This underscores the airport’s increasing role in promoting both tourism and trade.
