Public officers’ verification schedule has been extended from March 11 to May 8, 2024, to accommodate the increased number of attendees.

The Ministry of Public Service has undertaken a revision of the schedule for the verification process of unverified public officers, citing a significant influx of employees attending the verification sessions.

Originally commencing on March 11 and scheduled for conclusion on March 17, 2024, the verification process has been adjusted by the Ministry to ensure comprehensive verification of all personnel before the stipulated closure.

Ms. Catherine Bitarakwate Musingwiire, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Public Service, attributed the notable turnout to the recruitment of new employees subsequent to the validation exercise conducted by the Office of the Auditor General.

The revised verification schedule spans from March 18, 2024, to May 8, 2024, as outlined in this publication.

In light of these changes, Bitarakwate urges all responsible officers to acknowledge the adjustments when issuing letters of introduction and to effectively communicate these modifications to relevant personnel.

The verification exercise will be conducted at the National Archives and Records Center in Kampala, as well as at various district headquarters, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Furthermore, the verification aims to rectify discrepancies identified in the report by the Auditor General, John Muwanga, which highlighted a loss of approximately 53 billion in payments to over 10,192 public servants who were not rightfully included in the payroll during the previous fiscal year.

This verification initiative is aimed at establishing an accurate count of active employees within various ministries, local governments, agencies, and other government organizations.
