Fallen State minister for labour, employment and industrial relations Col.(Rtd) Hon charles Okello Engola to be accorded an official funeral

Col. (rtd) Charles Okello Engola, the State’s minister of labor, employment, and industrial relations, was shot and killed. In the early hours of Tuesday 2nd May 2023 in the Kampala neighborhood of Kyanja, Col. (rtd) Engola was shot by his security guard a one Pte.Wilson Sabiti. Luke Owoyesigire, a spokesman for the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police, verified the occurrence.

“Yes. Go to Kyanja; there is gunfire there, a soldier has shot his boss”, Owoyesigire informed this publication that a soldier had shot his employer.

While presiding over the plenary session on Tuesday 2nd May, Speaker of the House of Representatives Ms. Anita Among also announced. the minister’s passing.

“This morning I received sad news that Hon. Engola had been shot by his security and then committed suicide. May his soul rest in peace. God planned it that way. Nothing can be changed,” Ms. Among remarks.

Security agents had roped off the crime scene. The minister was shot there, and his body was still there. The shooter’s body remained inside the salon where he allegedly shot himself as of the time of publication. One of the government representatives who had already arrived at Engola’s residence in Kyanja was Gender Minister Betty Amongi. “The guard claimed that he had not received Shs 4m.

“He claimed that despite the fact that the minister’s children were attending school he had a pregnant wife, and his children were not going to school”, an eyewitness said

H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has directed that fallen State Minister of Labour, employment and industrial relations Hon. Col. Charles Okello Engola, be accorded an official funeral. The full burial program will be communicated later according to Milly Babanda Minister in charge of the Presidency.
