Gen. Kainerugaba Commemorates 206 Commando Brigade’s Legacy
On April 2nd, 2024, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, commissioned the administration block at Ruhengyere Barracks, also known as Camp Rufu, in western Uganda. He praised the 206 Commando Brigade for their efficiency and labeled them as model soldiers within the UPDF.

The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, commissioned the administration block at Ruhengyere Barracks also known as Camp Rufu yesterday 2nd April 2024 in western Uganda.
Gen Kainerugaba thanked 206 Commando Brigade for being true warriors but also for effectively using the little resources they receive.
Speaking at the commissioning, the CDF who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations noted that they are “a model unit within the UPDF and we are proud of them.”

‘Semiliki House’ is named in honour of the first major battle the unit had with the ADF near River Semiliki in Rwebisengo in 2007.

At that battle where many ADF were killed, the Commandos established their reputation of being hardened warriors that can overcome any enemy.
The commissioning was also attended by the Commander Land Forces Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga and the Artillery Division Commander Brig Dan Kakono as well as Brig Asaph Mweteise, the Commando brigade commander.
