Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba Embarks on Campaign Tour in Teso Region, Eastern Uganda: Presidential Bid and Community Engagement

Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, is visiting the Teso region in eastern Uganda on August 14, 2023. The visit includes a reception in Bukedea District by Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, followed by a sizable rally.Gen. Muhoozi, who has announced his presidential bid for 2026, will also hold smaller rallies in Kumi and Ngora. Later, he will attend the MK Cup football tournament finals in Soroti, followed by a celebratory event for his fans.

The Senior Presidential Advisor in charge of Special Operations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, is today 14th August 2023 visiting Teso region, eastern Uganda.

Muhoozi will be received in Bukedea District by the Speaker of Parliament and area MP, Anita Among. Thereafter, Muhoozi will address a massive rally in Bukedea.

The rally will be attended by about 300 lawmakers invited by Speaker of Parliament Anita Among to welcome Muhoozi to the area.

Muhoozi, who has since declared his presidential bid for 2026, will also address mini rallies in Kumi and Ngora.

Later on Monday 14th August 2023 evening, Muhoozi will travel to Soroti, where he will attend the finals of a football tournament known as MK Cup.

After the football match, Gen. Muhoozi will open the Kasiki for his fans, who are expected to dance till late.

Muhoozi will on Tuesday 15th August 2023 morning attend a motor rally in Soroti before gracing the ‘Baraza’.

The presidential advisor has been holding Barazas in different parts of the country to strengthen accountability in public service delivery.

The Barazas, also known as community information forums, allow local leaders and stakeholders to raise issues affecting their communities with high-profile government officials.

In recent Barazas in Kitgum and Pader, Muhoozi was informed about the increased insecurity created by Karamoja rustlers.

Muhoozi responded by sending specialised forces into the area and helping to restock cattle in areas affected by cattle rustling.

In January 2023, Muhoozi visited Sebei region where he interacted with local leaders and also address a huge rally in Kapchorwa district.

Locals speak out

“We are happy to receive Gen. Muhoozi in the area,” said Mike Otim, 21, a shopkeeper in Kachumbala, Bukedea.

“The people of Teso want to assure Muhoozi of their support for his presidential bid,” he added.

Asked why he supports Muhoozi for president, Otim responded: “He is youthful and will look into the young people’s issues such as lack of jobs, poor service delivery in local governments, and corruption.”

Lindah Atutur, 26, a farmer in Soroti, said she is eager to see Gen Muhoozi “because I have never seen him physically and I want to hear him speak about the issues that affect us such as low incomes, lack of market for our produce and poor quality of transport infrastructure in our area.”

Balaamu Barugahara, who is among the organisers of Muhoozi’s trip to Teso, says “people are excited about Muhoozi’s visit”, adding, “We expect to have very huge rallies.”
