Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba Met the EU Envoy to Boost Security Ties
Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Uganda’s Chief of Defense Forces, met with EU Ambassador Jan Sadek on May 30, 2024, to discuss enhancing security cooperation and regional issues. The meeting, attended by senior military officials, builds on prior discussions held in Entebbe last year.

The Chief of Defense Forces who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, yesterday 30th May 2024 afternoon held a meeting with the EU Ambassador to Uganda, Jan Sadek.
During the meeting at the Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs headquarters in Mbuya, General Kainerugaba and Ambassador Sadek discussed enhancing security cooperation between Uganda and the EU.
According to a media release from the CDF’s office, meeting also “discussed international and regional points of interest.”

The EU provides Uganda humanitarian aid through its Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG-ECHO).
Uganda generously hosts more than 1.4 million refugees from South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The EU has been at the forefront of funding life-saving relief such as food, shelter, medical treatment, education and other items for refugees.
In 2022, the EU allocated €34 million in humanitarian aid to Uganda. Since 2017, the EU has supported humanitarian action in Uganda with more than €240 million in funding.
Yesterday’s meeting builds upon previous engagements, with General Kainerugaba and the EU Ambassador having held discussions last year in Entebbe on areas of common interest.
The meeting was also attended by Maj Gen James Birungi, the Chief of Defense Intelligence and Security, and Maj Gen Henry Masiko from the Joint Staff – Political Commissariat.
