Government begs for more funding to support refugees in Uganda

The state minister for Disaster preparedness Hon. Lilian Aber has revealed that they still need a lot of funds to be able to give the right support to all refugees in Uganda while receiving a donation of 342 tonnes of food relief worth 500,000 dollars from Saudi Arabia at the prime minister’s office.

While receiving a donation of 342 tonnes of food relief worth 500,000 dollars from Saudi Arabia at the prime minister’s office, state minister for disaster preparedness Hon. Lilian Aber revealed that they still need a lot of money to be able to give the right support to all refugees in Uganda Yesterday 27th June 2024.

Minister Lilian Aber noted that the number of refugees keeps change almost daily and they still need more food to be able to give the right food ratio to all refugee communities in Uganda despite variation in numbers.

After receiving the donation, the minister flagged it off to vulnerable Congolese refugees in Nakivale.

Lilian Aber noted that the refugees need to get good medical care, education but they still need more stake holders to give them a hand to be able to facilitate all the refugees which are in Uganda.

He further challenged the global community always to take Uganda as a priority when it comes to funding the refugee communities because Uganda hosts the majority refugees in the world.

The ambassador of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Uganda HE. Mohammed Bin Khalil Faroudah who led the team from king Salman humanitarian aid and relief center noted that king Salman humanitarian aid and relief center has got the plan to increase on the donations they provide to Uganda in future.

He further noted that they are to build hospitals and schools here in Uganda has a way of giving back to Uganda for hosting refugees from different countries.
