Halima Nakaayi secured silver in the women’s 800m at the ongoing Africa Games in Accra, Ghana ahead of the Paris Olympics.
The 2019 world champion is building up to the Olympic Games and her first pit stop outdoors is the Africa Games in Ghana.
The race was won by Ethiopian Gemiecu Tsige Duguma 1:57.73. Nakaayi’s time of 1.58.59. was only good enough for second place while Kenyan Vivian Chebet Kiprotich of Kenya finished third.
The other Ugandan in the race Susan Aneno finished sixth in the race that was full of East African players.
Nakaayi said she was happy with her race and it will give her confidence going into the Olympics.
