On April 2, 2025, Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala was alive with energy as the much-awaited documentary Hidden Uganda, created by renowned American travel journalist Peter S. Greenberg, had its grand premiere.

The event was honored by the presence of His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni, who were joined by a distinguished group of guests, including Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, tourism officials, and local celebrities such as Bebe Cool. The screening highlighted Uganda’s stunning landscapes, vibrant culture, and hidden stories, showcasing the country as a must-visit treasure in the heart of Africa.

Hidden Uganda is set to showcase the country’s natural beauty to a global audience, with broadcasts scheduled on PBS and other platforms, reaching over 130 million viewers. Locally, Ugandans can watch it on UBC TV on April 4 from 9-10 PM and NBS TV on April 6 from 8-9 PM. The documentary, a collaborative effort involving a talented team of young Ugandan creatives, not only highlights the nation’s scenic wonders but also celebrates its dynamic next generation.

President Museveni, the Guest of Honour, praised the project for positioning Uganda as a top-tier tourism destination. “This film is a gift to the world, unveiling the soul of our Pearl of Africa,” he said. First Lady Janet Museveni also lauded the youth involved, commending their creativity and hard work.
