In order to advance the industry vision of All Flash for All Scenarios, Yang Chaobin, Director of the Board and President of ICT Products & Solutions at Huawei, unveiled two new all-flash storage products at HUAWEI CONNECT 2023 in Paris: the OceanStor Pacific 9920 and the OceanStor Dorado 2100. The products are made to assist clients in constructing data centers that are more dependable and efficient.

“Data storage solutions that are more performant, dependable, and energy-efficient are necessary for ubiquitous data services. Hard disk drives (HDDs) are 28 times more bandwidth than flash storage products, but flash storage products use 33% less power than HDDs of comparable capacity. According to Yang, flash storage products have received a lot of praise from businesses for their improved performance, dependability, and reduced power consumption.

Huawei has introduced an all-flash scale-out storage portfolio for the core production phases of data centers to manage the growing volumes of mass unstructured data so that customers can increase production and decision-making efficiency. This is part of the company’s efforts to realize All Flash for All Scenarios and create high-performance, high-reliability, and environmentally friendly data centers. SMBs also have to deal with issues like a large amount of unstructured data, slow read/write speeds, and challenging multi-tenant sharing and isolation. SMB-specific professional all-flash Network-Attached Storage (NAS) is emerging as a new means of maximizing the value of data.

About the two new products that were introduced at the event, Michael Qiu, President of Global Data Center Marketing & Solution Sales Dept at Huawei Enterprise BG, gave details:

Leading the all-flash scale-out architecture with its high performance, high-capacity SSDs, and effective data reduction algorithms is the SSD-based OceanStor Pacific 9920 storage system. With a single-disk capacity of 30.72 TB and a 2 U-space capacity of up to 768 TB, it offers the highest capacity density in the industry. Up to 20 GB/s of single-node bandwidth and 800,000 IOPS are supported by the product. Power consumption is reduced to 1.04 W per TB by the effective data reduction algorithms, contributing to the construction of green data centers.

The first active-active (A-A) NAS architecture for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) is provided by the OceanStor Dorado 2100 all-flash storage system, which boasts a user-friendly interface, strong dependability, and extensive efficiency. The deployment process involves scanning a code, and it facilitates remote mobile O&M. It provides delivery times up to 90% faster than those of traditional solutions, all at a TCO up to 30% less than that of our peer vendors. The only A-A NAS architecture in the market offers four-layer 99.9999% reliability along with round-the-clock business continuity. Compared to current hybrid flash products on the market, performance is improved by a factor of 20 thanks to the end-to-end all-flash design and novel data layout algorithms.

Building environmentally friendly, energy-efficient, dependable, and all-flash data centers for various enterprise service scenarios and increased customer base in Europe is the goal of the new Huawei OceanStor all-flash storage products. They mark a significant turning point in our quest to fulfill the goal of All Flash for All Scenarios.
