Amos Lugoloobi, the state’s minister of finance and planning, has been taken into custody.

The MP for Ntenjeru North County, Lugoloobi, is accused of stealing iron sheets intended for the Karamoja relief effort. He is currently being held by Kira Road Police, according to sources. According to reports, Lugoloobi received some of the iron sheets intended for the Karamoja region, but he instead used them to cover an animal shelter on his farm in Kayunga. Thus, his detention is the consequence of orders from President Museveni, who urged the line agencies to take swift action and detain individuals responsible.

According to President Museveni, anyone who took iron sheets was required to pay for them back in full, and anyone caught exploiting them for their own political gain will face consequences.
