Uganda’s long-distance running sensation, Jacob Kiplimo, has solidified his dominance in the 15km road race by setting a remarkable new world record time of 40:42.

This record-breaking achievement took place during the Seven Hills Race in Nijmegen, Netherlands, on Sunday, marking a triumphant conclusion to an eventful year for the 24-year-old athlete.

Kiplimo’s victory not only secured him consecutive titles at the event but also surpassed his own course record of 41:05, set in 2023. By shaving 23 seconds off Joshua Cheptegei’s 2018 world record, also set on this course, Kiplimo has further demonstrated his exceptional prowess in road racing.

This milestone serves as a powerful comeback for Kiplimo, who narrowly missed a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Closing his season with a world record cements his standing as one of the brightest talents in athletics.

Renowned coach Benjamin Njia lauded Kiplimo’s accomplishment, highlighting the athlete’s continued growth and mastery in road racing. “It is a pleasure that we have a talent like Jacob, and the future is bright,” Njia stated. “He is maturing and mastering the road with each race.”

Looking ahead, Kiplimo will take a well-deserved break before preparing to defend his national and world cross-country titles next year. With his relentless drive and extraordinary skill, the world eagerly awaits his future achievements.
