Maj Gen Bakasumba Meets Russian Defense Attaché, Discuss Enhancing Cooperation

The Chief of Joint Staff, Major General Jack Bakasumba, met with Colonel Nikolay Pavlov, the Military and Air Attaché of the Russian Federation located in Kampala at the Embassy of the Russian Federation at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Headquarters, Mbuya.
During the meeting at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Headquarters, Mbuya. Maj Gen Bakasumba the Chief of Joint Staff hailed the cordial relationship between Uganda and Russia, especially in Security and Defence.
Col Nikolay Pavlov expressed Russia’s willingness to share their military expertise with Uganda through various areas of defense cooperation.
A release from the UPDF headquarters states that Maj Gen Bakasumba further said that Uganda continues to benefit from Russia’s experience in combating terrorism through training of Uganda’s Military Personnel.
He added that Uganda is open avenues for further cooperation by establishing a legal framework for collaboration between the two countries.
Col Nikolay Pavlov during the courtesy call expressed Russia’s willingness to share their military experience with Uganda through different areas of Defence Cooperation.
Present in the meeting was the Assistant Attaché, Lt Col Eugene Shmelev.
