Makerere University’s schedule for the 2024/2025 academic year has been released. First-year students, known as freshers, will arrive on August 3, 2024. They will undergo a week-long orientation until August 9, which includes familiarizing themselves with campus facilities and undergoing registration. Semester one starts on August 10 and runs until December 8, while semester two begins on January 18, 2025, and ends on June 15.

Makerere University has unveiled the semester schedule for the 2024/2025 academic year. Gates will open to first-year students, also known as freshers, on Saturday, August 3.

Freshers will undergo a week-long orientation until Friday, August 9. According to the Office of the Academic Registrar, semester one will start on Saturday, August 10, and run until Sunday, December 8. Semester two will commence on Saturday, January 18, 2025, and end on Sunday, June 15.

During the orientation week, arrangements are made to enable freshers to meet and be addressed by key officers, wardens, and student leaders who welcome the students.

According to the Academic Registrar, Professor Mukadasi Buyinza, “Arrangements are also made to enable the freshers to acquaint themselves with key facilities at the university like the Library, University Hospital, Games and Recreation Facilities.”

“Freshers are expected to take advantage of the week to survey and acquaint themselves with the general campus layout. Another major activity during the Orientation Week is registration. All Freshers must ensure that they are registered first centrally with their respective Colleges/Schools and then with each of their respective Departments/Halls,” he added.

Last week, the Office of the Academic Registrar published the undergraduate admission lists for privately sponsored students for the 2024/2025 academic year.
