Minister Henry Musasizi Launches Hoe Distribution Program to Boost Agriculture in Rubanda East County
Henry Musasizi, the State Minister of Finance and Rubanda East County Member of Parliament, has launched a hoe distribution program to benefit over 28,000 households in Rubanda East County. The initiative aims to enhance agricultural productivity and is in response to the government’s Parish Development Model Funds (PDM).
Henry Musasizi, the State Minister of Finance (General Duties) and the Rubanda East County Member of Parliament in Rubanda District, launched a hoe distribution program to over 28000 homesteads in Rubanda East County, aimed at boosting agricultural productivity.
Musasizi, who also serves as the NRM Party Chairman for Rubanda District, inaugurated the program on last Saturday 28th October 2023 at Kashaki Playground Nyamiyaga Parish, Bubaare Town Council.
He revealed that he decided to distribute hoes following the government’s rollout of Parish Development Model Funds (PDM) to Ugandans, particularly targeting the 39 percent intended to be integrated in the money economy.
“I understand that the majority of you are farmers, and you plan to use the funds received from PDM for farming. That’s why I’m here to ensure that I provide you with the tools you need for agriculture. Make sure you utilize the PDM funds responsibly to benefit your families and, most importantly, to uplift yourselves from poverty. Engage in activities that generate wealth for your families, and the government is ready to support you. I want the PDM program in Rubanda District to be a success, so we can become role models for the entire country,” Musasizi stated.
“Government has initiated numerous programs to alleviate poverty, but PDM is a game changer, as it directly supports the grassroots. You, the beneficiaries, will each receive 1 million Ugandan Shillings, and some of you have received it already, and you can plan accordingly based on your preferences,” Musasizi was quoted as saying.
Musasizi says that the distribution will encompass every household in Rubanda East, estimated to be around 28,000 households.
“I understand that there are those, who may not have supported us during the elections and may be concerned about receiving hoes during this campaign. They need not worry. Election time has passed, and today, we are focused on delivering services. Whether you supported us or not, everyone will receive, and those responsible for distribution are well aware of this. During elections, each candidate can choose their preferred individuals. However, development is a necessity for everyone in Rubanda East. I represent everybody, and therefore, all must receive,” Musasizi added.
Milton Tayebwa, a farmer and one of the program’s beneficiaries, expressed his gratitude, noting that almost every household in the county relies on farming. He thanked Musasizi for providing hoes during the rainy season, which is the crucial planting season.
Jimmy Musiime, another farmer, referred Musasizi as a “better seed” that has borne fruit, emphasizing the significance of hoes to rural farmers.
“We depend on hoes for our livelihoods, and anyone who provides us with hoes is an agent of development. As farmers, before we plant, we select the best seeds for better yields. Musasizi is undoubtedly a good seed, and the results are evident. I, believe, that’s why the Head of State appointed him as Minister, “Musiime stated.
