National Court Open Day Postponed
Uganda’s annual National Court Open Day has been postponed. This was originally scheduled for February 29, 2024. The event aimed to enhance public understanding of the judiciary and facilitate interaction with judicial officers.
The Judiciary has postponed the much-anticipated annual National Court Open Day scheduled for February 29, 2024.
According to the Judiciary’s Chief Registrar Sarah Langa Siu, another date will be communicated in the due course.
“We regret to inform you that the Judiciary National Court open day that was scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Kololo Independence Grounds has been postponed. We apologise for the inconvenience caused,” she stated.
The Chief Registrar announced the development in a statement issued by the Judiciary today, February 26, 2024.
The initiative is an attempt to bridge the gap between the public and the Judiciary, allowing citizens to interact with judicial officers, understand court processes, and provide crucial feedback.
The justices of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, and judges from the seven High Court Divisions were expected to gather at Kololo to interact with Ugandan citizens on issues regarding justice in the courts of law.
The Inspector General of Government, the Uganda Prisons Service, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Uganda Police Force, and Legal Service providers were also expected to turn up for the event.
