Parliamentary Leaders Optimistic as Uganda Gears Up to Host International Summits and Conferences in 2024

Uganda’s Parliamentary Leaders, Speaker Among and Deputy Speaker Tayebwa, express optimism about hosting international summits in early 2024, including NAM and G77. They toured the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort, set to host these events.

Speaker Among and Deputy Speaker Taybwa on 20th December 2023 toured Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort that will host international conferences in January 2024.

Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, together with Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa say they are optimistic about Uganda’s readiness to host international summits and conferences.

Some of the summits slated for early next year are NAM and G77. These are international conferences slated to take place in January 2024. 

Tayebwa and Among expressed optimism as they toured the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort in Kampala on Wednesday. The facility is expected to host the summits.  

Speaker Among and Tayebwa were guided on a tour of the resort to assess the progress of the ongoing construction works in preparation for the 27th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth. The conference will take place between January 3-6, 2024.

The summit of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Heads of State and Government will take place from January 15-20, 2024, while the third South Summit will take place between January 21-23. 

Uganda will host the Third South Summit organized under the framework of Group 77 and China, a loose alliance of developing countries.

Among expressed confidence that the premises will provide an excellent setting for successful and impactful events.

“Uganda stands ready to host the delegates, showcasing our commitment to fostering international dialogue and collaboration,” Among said.
