Paul Put Names 28-Man Squad for AFCON Qualifiers

Uganda Cranes coach Paul Put has named a 28-player squad for the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers, which includes matches against South Africa and Congo Brazzaville. The team will face South Africa in Johannesburg on September 6 and play Congo Brazzaville in Namboole on September 9.

Uganda Cranes coach Paul Put has summoned a squad of 28 players for the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers against South Africa and Congo Brazzaville, scheduled for next month. The team will travel to South Africa on August 31st for the first game against Bafana Bafana on September 6th, followed by a match against Congo Brazzaville in Namboole on September 9th, 2024.

In the squad, Halid Lwalirwa and Kenneth Semakula have been dropped due to visa issues but will be available to play against Congo Brazzaville. Meanwhile, players like Allan Kyambadde, Moses Opondo, Uche Mubiru, and Isaac Ssewankambo are out due to injuries.

Uganda is in Group K alongside South Africa, Congo, and South Sudan.
