PLU-USA Expands Reach with Midwest Chapter Launch in Chicago

The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) launched its USA Midwest chapter in Chicago, drawing Ugandan Americans from states like Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Led by Coach Gad, the event featured a speech by Mr. Michael Katungi, highlighting patriotism and the diaspora’s role in national development.

The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) diaspora chapters continue to gain ground following the Midwest regional launch of PLU-USA over the weekend in Chicago, attracting Ugandans from the diaspora to engage in the initiation of regional structure mobilization activities.

Coach Gad, the PLU-USA National Vice Chairman and coordinator for the Midwest region, informed this publication that the launch drew participants from Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Indiana, Milwaukee, and Kansas, who assembled in Illinois-Chicago for an interactive dialogue session.

The PLU Director of External Affairs, Mr Michael Katungi, serving as the guest speaker, virtually represented PLU Chairman General Muhoozi Kainerugaba. Katungi delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of patriotism and the significant role the Ugandan Diaspora plays in national development efforts.

At the event, a functional regional executive committee was introduced to the community.

The Midwest region, home to an estimated population of around 3,000 Ugandan Americans, aims to uphold the PLU vision of advancing patriotism, national unity, and fostering a profound love for the country among all Ugandan residents in the region.
