President Museveni asked King Mumbere for assistance in battling the ADF

President Yoweri Museveni has enlisted the assistance of Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema Ngoma, the leader of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu, in combating the ADF rebels to ensure stability in the region during the 57th coronation anniversary of the Rwenzururu cultural leader on 19th October 2023 in Kasese district.

The head of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu, Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema Ngoma, has been asked by President Yoweri Museveni to help in the fight against the ADF rebels to maintain peace in the area during the 57th anniversary of the coronation of the Rwenzururu cultural leader on October 19, 2023, in the Kasese district.

President Yoweri Museveni has enlisted the assistance of Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema Ngoma, the leader of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu, in combating the ADF rebels to ensure stability in the region.

ADF’s continued threats have been exemplified by the recent tragic killings of two British tourists and a Ugandan guide in Kasese, prompting President Museveni to stress the need for collective vigilance and eradication of rebel elements within communities.

During the 57th coronation anniversary of the Rwenzururu cultural leader, President Museveni, represented by Vice President Maj (Rtd) Jessica Alupo, urged the local community to maintain a strong relationship with the government to address issues such as poverty, criminality, and diseases.

Emphasizing the importance of fostering unity and development, Museveni pledged to eliminate ADF’s existence, highlighting the government’s commitment to social and economic transformation.

Recognizing the significance of the cultural norms of the Bakonzo community, President Museveni expressed his contentment with Mumbere’s return to his kingdom.

He underscored the significance of restoring kingdoms in Uganda, citing their historical value and ability to foster a sense of belonging. State Minister Peace Mutuuzo also encouraged cultural leaders to prioritize unity and development.

In response, Mumbere stressed the importance of embracing government initiatives like the Parish Development Model (PDM) to uplift livelihoods and combat poverty.

He outlined the kingdom’s strategic focus on reconciliation, diversity, social-economic transformation, peacebuilding, and mindset change, emphasizing the need for unwavering dedication from his subjects to achieve these goals.
