President Museveni Hails Rubaga Hospital for Serving Humanity
President Yoweri Museveni has hailed the Church for the continued partnership with the Government, in the provision of social services, like education, healthcare, and housing.
The Church’s ongoing collaboration with the government in delivering social services like housing, healthcare, and education has been praised by President Yoweri Museveni through President’s appreciation remarks are contained in his message delivered on Friday, November 22, by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja
This, he said is proof that “the religious leaders are as much concerned about the physical well-being of the believers as they are about their souls.”
Museveni, in a special way, commended the leadership of the Catholic Church, for playing a central role in providing quality access to medical services to the people of Uganda.
The President’s appreciation remarks are contained in his message delivered on Friday, November 22, by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja at the 125th Jubilee Celebrations for Rubaga Hospital at the hospital complex in Kampala.
Rubaga Hospital started on October 18, 1899, when six missionary sisters of our lady of Africa arrived at Rubaga hill where they were given a plot of land by Kabaka Daudi Chwa.
In his remarks to a huge gathering majority of whom were medics, priests and nuns, the President further said that besides preparing the faithful for the Kingdom of Heaven, the Church is equally mandated with the responsibility of ensuring that the believers take care of their welfare here on earth.
“It is a sin for believers to neglect their bodies and allow themselves to be attacked by diseases, hunger, poverty, ignorance, etc. It is written in the Bible, in 1 Corinthians, Chapter 6, verse 19, that: “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own…” (NIV),” said Museveni.
He said that this is a command to all believers to take care of their bodies because they are divine gifts from God.
This is why besides fasting and prayer, our Lord Jesus Christ, also healed the physical ailments of the blind, the lame, the deaf, etc. Therefore, I am happy that the Catholic Church is following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, by providing health care services to the people,” he noted.
