President Museveni Holds Talks on Foreign Investments in Uganda’s IT and Sports Infrastructure
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni engaged in discussions with representatives from Chinese company CN Light Technology and a consortium of Egyptian private sector companies regarding potential investments in Uganda.
President Museveni, received Ambassador (rtd) Mohamed El-Hamzawi, a former Egyptian diplomat in Uganda and his delegation at State House Entebbe.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has met with a delegation from China-based CN Light Technology, who are interested in investing $30 million (sh118 billion) in a computer and IT accessories assembly plant in Uganda.
The meeting took place at State House Entebbe on Wednesday 29th February 2024.
The team was led by Amb. Kilonzo Kiema, Li Kaifu (CN Light president), Li Hong (CN Light vice-president) and Martin Grabler (senior project advisor).
President Museveni welcomed the group to Uganda and assured them of the government’s support.
In a separate meeting, Museveni received Ambassador (Rtd) Mohamed El-Hamzawi, a former Egyptian diplomat, in Uganda.
President Museveni meets delegation from China-based CN Light Technology at State House Entebbe
He was accompanied by a consortium of Egyptian private sector companies who are interested in developing the sports infrastructure and facilities in Uganda.
The consortium comprises;
▪️ Samco-National Construction Company represented by vice-chairman Eng Ibrahim Mabrouk
▪️ Khater Sports represented by Eng. Yehia Radwan, the leader in specialised sports contracting
▪️ Estadat Holding company (deals in sport facilities management)
▪️ El Raied International Engineering Consultants
They discussed the possibility of constructing and managing stadiums and sports facilities in Uganda.
“Sports facilities development is an untapped area, and we feel that our Ugandan brothers and sisters need to develop it and we are ready to offer support,” El -Hamzawi told Museveni.
Together with neighbours Kenya and Tanzania, Uganda will co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
