President Museveni Is Back Home After a Two-Day Working Visit to UAE
President Museveni concluded a two-day visit to the UAE, engaging in diplomatic discussions with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The talks focused on bolstering bilateral relations, exploring investment opportunities in Uganda’s economy, and discussing renewable energy. The UAE ruler accepted an invitation to the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Uganda.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni returned to Uganda yesterday 14th of November 2023, following a two-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Throughout his visit, President Museveni engaged in various diplomatic activities, including substantive discussions with the President of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The meeting, held at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi on the 13th of November 2023, encompassed multifaceted deliberations on reinforcing bilateral relations between Uganda and the UAE, exploring investment opportunities within the pathogenic economy, and deliberating on matters related to renewable energy and sustainability.
During the encounter, His Highness Al Nahyan graciously accepted the invitation to participate in the forthcoming Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit scheduled for January 2024 in Uganda. This summit, set to transpire in Kampala from the 15th to the 20th of January 2024, holds significant importance on the diplomatic calendar.
President Museveni’s visit, extended at the invitation of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, also featured discussions with a delegation of investors in Abu Dhabi, led by Rashed Abdulkarim Al Blooshi, the Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development.
Accompanying President Museveni in the official delegation were key dignitaries, including Matia Kasaija, the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development; the Attorney General, Kiryowa Kiwanuka; the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Henry Okello Oryem; Zaake W. Kibedi, Uganda’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, and the Director General of External Security Organization (ESO), Ambassador Joseph Ocwet.
Upon returning to Entebbe International Airport on Tuesday, President Museveni was warmly received by Vice President Jessica Alupo, Minister for Presidency Babirye Milly Babalanda, Head of Public Service Lucy Nakyobe, Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, Police Director for Welfare, Production and Sports AIGP Charles Birungi, and Deputy Commissioner General of Uganda Prisons Service Samuel Akena.
