During a special televised national address on anti terrorism measures on Thursday ,July13,from Nakasero State Lodge, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who is also the Commander in Chief of all military forces, identified four essential methods to ensure peace in Uganda and maintain stability in the area.

The President emphasised that the Ugandan government is committed to ensuring the safety of her citizens at all levels.

In his message, President Museveni directed the police to immediately deploy 18 personnel per sub-county under four separate squads, armed with fuelled motorcycles and all the required facilitation to enable them to respond to any random alerts from the communities.

The President further directed that out of the 18 personnel, about 12 must be armed 24 hours a day, and there must be a toll-free telephone number for each sub-county, which the community can use to alert police in case of any eventuality.

According to President Museveni, Uganda has a much better standard and capacity to defend her territorial integrity both day and night and protect all the citizens’ property under all circumstances.

“ADF is being wiped out every day. We shall defeat them under all means. We must ensure no stand down at any moment. With LDUs deployed in all the parishes, we should be sure to protect our people. Uganda now has full capacity to follow the ADF both day and night,” President Museveni said.

The President listed four strategies including a strong army that can fight any kind of war to defend the country; storing intelligence seduces that use both human and technical means to detect enemies; maximum political cohesion that brings everyone on board; and Pan-African efforts to work with all the African countries to counter terrorism.

He also maintained that Uganda, under the NRM government, managed to become an island of peace by effectively implementing the strategies above, adding that Uganda is currently the third country with the highest number of refugees in the world.

According to President Museveni, Uganda has enough steady intelligence services to defeat ADF attacks, adding that with the current political and diplomatic engagements with the approval of DRC, President Felix TShesikedi, Uganda is on point to defeat the ADF terrorist group.
