President Museveni tests positive for COVID-19, Nation Expresses Concern
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was confirmed to have contracted COVID-19, according to his top doctor after experiencing a fever. Doctor Atwiine Diana confirmed the president’s positive status and assured the nation that he was in stable condition, continuing his duties while following safety protocols.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s top doctor certified that the head of state is indeed infected with COVID-19. The President previously acknowledged that he was a probable Coronavirus patient following a fever that encouraged him to get a quick test. However, the test’s results were mixed, with some claiming he is negative and others confirming he is positive.
On Wednesday, 7th June 2023, President Museveni gave his State of the Nation Address at Kololo Independence Ground and revealed the troubling health news. The President claims that this explains why he did not arrive at the location of the event in the same car with the first Lady of Uganda.
Dr. Atwiine Diana, one of the President’s personal physicians, has since come out to affirm that his employer is in fact a verified COVID-19 case, according to a later update. Atwiine, who is also the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Health, explained the President’s predicament and said that tests were prompted by Museveni exhibiting minor flu-like symptoms.
However, she brought excellent news to the nation regarding the Head of State’s health, emphasizing that he is in a stable state and continuing to perform his regular tasks while abiding by SOPs.
In addition to the afore mentioned, Ugandans appear to be terrified that the 78-year-old leader will suffer the worst possible outcome as a result of the revelation of the leader’s coronavirus illness.
