President Museveni To Honor 51 Ugandans with Medals on Heroes Day
Uganda will be celebrating the 34th Heroes Day tomorrow 9th June 2023. A total of 51 Ugandans will be awarded medals by President Museveni, during this year’s Heroes Day celebrations. The celebrations will take place at Kasaala Catholic Parish Grounds in Butuntumula Sub-County in Luwero District.
This year’s Heroes Day theme is “Arise Uganda; Our Heroes’ Sacrifices are Now Bearing Fruit.”
The Chief Guest will be His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda.
This year’s Heroes’ occasion will be attended by several government officials, historicals, International and Local Diplomats and the general public.
As part of the activities of celebrating this year’s Hero’s-day a health camp has been organized at Lutula Health Centre II which started Wednesday June 7, 2023, and ending on Friday June 9, 2023.
Uganda always celebrates Heroes’ Day, to pay tribute to people who exemplified and defended the highest values of patriotism and sacrifice for the wellbeing of the country and its citizens.
Heroes’ day is the day Uganda remembers and honours all countrymen and countrywomen who were violently murdered by public execution on the orders of President Idi Amin In 1973. These were accused of collaborating with the FRONASA rebel movement led by Yoweri Museveni.
On June 9th the country honours these heroes and heroines for their sacrifices that resulted into the peace and prosperity we enjoy today. It is due to their sacrifices that we can dream of prosperity rather than fear the nightmare of torture and extra-judicial killings, the Minister for the Presidency, Milly Babalanda said.
Uganda owes a great debt to the sons and daughters of the country and all the other heroes who fought for Uganda to be free. The tree of Uganda’s liberty was watered by their blood. It is a debt we as a country we can neither repay, nor ever forget.
