President Museveni will preside over the Inauguration of UMA Trade Expo 2023
Preparations for Uganda’s annual trade expo are in high gear, highlighting tight security measures, the use of technology in marketing, and opportunities for discounted shopping.
Preparations are currently underway for Uganda’s annual trade exposition, during which both local and international manufacturers will present their merchandise.
The forthcoming Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) Trade Fair, scheduled from October 5 to October 10, 2023, will implement enhanced security measures. Notably, there will be expedited access points, and the movements of the estimated 300,000 attendees will be meticulously monitored through the deployment of CCTV surveillance, drones, sniffer dogs, and helicopters, operating around the clock.
The opening ceremony on October 5, 2023, will be officiated by President Yoweri Museveni, while the event’s closure on October 10, 2023, will be presided over by East African Community Secretary General Peter Muthuki.
However, it is important to note that stringent security procedures will remain in effect, including the use of metal detectors and vigilant observation by on-duty officers. Any security breaches will be addressed through collaborative efforts involving the Uganda Police, the Uganda People’s Defence Force, and plainclothes officers. Uganda Police Spokesman Fred Enanga issued this caution during a joint press conference with the event organizers.
Deo Kayemba, Chairperson of UMA, has advised small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to harness Information Technology Communication (ITC) to foster the growth of their businesses. He highlighted various ICT-powered marketing avenues for manufactured goods, such as social media marketing, search engine marketing, content marketing, affiliate marketing, email marketing, and SMS marketing, emphasizing how ICT can facilitate a network of agents to expand sales.
Eddie Serunkuma, Chairman of the communication, marketing, and events subcommittee, encouraged the public to attend the event and take advantage of discounts that surpass market prices. He highlighted that this multifaceted fair offers opportunities to acquire hardware, motorbikes, electronics, and furniture at a 50 percent reduced price, making it essential for attendees to prepare shopping lists to avoid impulsive purchases.
Uganda Breweries Limited, recognizing the importance of balancing work and leisure, intends to provide a variety of their beverages, including the renowned Spirit of Uganda (Uganda Waragi), during the event. They also announced the presence of popular musicians to entertain their valued consumers, with a reminder to consume responsibly. Juliana Kagwa of UBL shared this information with the public.
